Re-Elect

Toni Troutner!

Meet Toni

Kent City Councilmember Toni Troutner is running for re-election!

Toni was elected to the city council in 2017, and has an extensive background of community service and advocacy. She has a unique blend of private sector and community service experience.

As your City Councilmember during these last eight years, every decision I have made has been to support Kent families and strengthen our city.

From ensuring small businesses and community groups received emergency relief, to leading the council to make investments in our infrastructure, public safety, parks and human services programs.

I am devoted to making Kent a great place to live and work for everyone, which is why I have taken several votes to maintain and expand our selection of housing, services and transit options.

Having served as Chair of the Public Safety Committee, I supported the addition of body worn cameras for our police department, increasing accountability and transparency in policing.  I continue to support the Kent Police department and am proud to have the endorsement of the Kent Police Officers Association.

Early on as a councilmember, I supported and stood behind apprenticeship utilization ensuring young people can get local jobs in the building and construction trades. As Council President from 2020-2021, I shepherded over two million dollars in federal CARES Act dollars to local businesses to support them during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While representing Kent around the region, I have helped ensure that we receive our fair share of funding while building partnerships to bolster our economy and attract new investments, businesses and industries.

I serve as chair of the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, a coordinator for the Severe Weather Shelter, member of the Drug Free Coalition, co-chair of Watershed Ecosystem Management Committee and Forum 9, and represents Kent as a member of the Regional Transit committee.

I also serve on the Disability Retirement Board (LEOFF 1), King County Flood Control District Advisory Committee, Puget Sound Regional Council, and Kent Downtown Partnership Board.

I live here, have raised my family here and plan to call Kent my home forever.

We have a responsibility to the over 140,000 residents, hundreds of city staff members and the taxpayers of Kent to ensure each voice is brought to the table and that we deliver high quality city services. We must expand our police department, ensure our roads are maintained and renew our commitment to parks and human services.

As a councilmember, Toni serves in leadership roles on regional and state committees.  In addition to the various committees, Councilmember Troutner was awarded her Advance Certificate of Municipal leadership from the Association of Washington Cities in November of 2024.
